24 Frequently Asked Questions
Training with the help of electrical stimulation takes place in areas of high intensity.
During EMS training, 90% of all muscles between two electrodes are activated sequentially with EACH contraction cycle.
In addition, muscle contractions are stronger and more intense compared to isolated voluntary physical exercise.
Compared to conventional weight training, the deeper muscles are also activated here, which leads to better internal muscle synchronization.
Based on scientifically proven data you can have much more significant results and in a shorter period of time. πολύ πιο σημαντικά αποτελέσματα και σε μικρότερο χρονικό διάστημα.
Given the duration and intensity of the muscle contractions, the effect of up to 20 minutes of EMS training can easily be compared to several hours of conventional weight training, which means faster visible results.
A normal workout in the gym, including warm-up, corresponds to 2-3 hours at a time.
To see and feel the results you need to train at least 2-3 times a week, 6 hours or more per week.
Many people do not have the ability to devote the necessary time to exercise and keep in shape.
With EMS you need only 20 minutes a week to see incomparable results compared to the countless hours you need with conventional exercise.
No. The use of low frequency current flow is widely used in sports training and rehabilitation treatments.
Muscles are electrochemical organs, which in order to contract need the electrical stimulation coming from the central nervous system.
EMS technology uses this physical principle but is able to intensify the contraction by applying electrodes directly over the muscle.
No. The EMS machine works at a low flow frequency and our muscles cannot perceive the difference between the physical stimulation coming from the brain and the external stimulation coming from an electrode.
All people can train using EMS, from 16 years of age and above if they are completely healthy, as with any other form of exercise.
However, if you have a health condition that prevents you from participating in even conventional sports, then you should definitely consult your doctor. Absolute contraindications or partial contraindications are as follows:
- Cardiovascular problems (Heart pacemaker, By pass)
- Pregnancy
- Severe circulatory disorder and circulatory disorder in the arteries
- Abdominal wall or inguinal hernia
- Tuberculosis
- Atherosclerosis in an advanced stage
- Diabetes
- Serious neurological diseases
- Fever, acute bacterial or viral infections
- Bleeding and heavy bleeding tendency (hemophilia)
- Epilepsy
- Thrombosis
- Recent inflammations and injuries
- Artificial limbs / Fracture screws
- Blood pressure abnormalities
- Neoplastic diseases (cancer)
If you suffer from any of the above conditions, please consult your doctor for clearance before starting to train with the EMS machine.
No. With EMS training is based on low frequency stimulations, which are not harmful to the body.
The body needs the electrical impulses coming from our central nervous system that lead to muscle contraction.
All EMS does is use this natural principle in a more intense and effective way.
No side effects of this training have been reported.
A series of studies at the University of Bayreuth (2002-2003), the University of Erlangen-Nurnberg (2009), the German Sporthochschule Köln (2008) as well as the cardiology clinic in Bad Oeynhausen (2010) have demonstrated the effectiveness of EMS training using already trained and untrained people, who had visible results in a very short period of time.
In fact, overall muscle "building" wasn't the only effect: EMS training works great in increasing an athlete's speed thanks to the fact that fast-twitch muscle fibers are activated first by external stimuli.
EMS also works great when targeting specific areas: for example the buttocks, stomach or back, especially when it comes to reducing back pain.
Additionally and most importantly: EMS – unlike conventional exercise – does not strain the joints.
The purchase of the custom made training suit is mandatory for all customers as it should be worn in all training sessions.
The electrodes work through the special fabric of the training equipment and do not come into direct contact with your body.
Τα ηλεκτρόδια καλύπτονται με ένα ειδικό αντιβακτηριακό ύφασμα για μακροχρόνια και πιο υγιεινή χρήση.
The electrodes are cleaned regularly with a special cleaner and replaced with new ones 6 months after their first use.
EMS Fitness Studio is the first and only ems studio, currently in Cyprus, that uses a scientific system of disinfection - sterilization - cleaning, its equipment as well as the atmosphere of the premises, thus ensuring the health of clients - practitioners, in daily basis.

Based on thisscientifically proven datayou can get much more significant results and in less time.
Luigi Galvani (1761) provided the first scientific evidence that current can activate muscles.
During the 19th and 20th centuries, researchers studied and recorded the precise electrical properties that cause muscle movement.
In 1902 a French researcher invented the first stimulation machine, which he successfully used to treat muscle atrophy/paralysis.
More research followed and 70 years later two Russian scientists, Kotz and Chwilon, proved the extraordinary results of muscle stimulation in human beings.
Experiments have shown a 30-40% increase in muscle strength with minimal physical and mental effort and in a very short period of time.
In the 1960s, Soviet sports scientists applied EMS to the training of elite athletes, claiming 40% strength gains.
In the 1970s, these studies were shared during conferences with Western sports institutions.
At the time, EMS training was mainly used for therapeutic purposes, to treat and restore muscle atrophy and muscle imbalance, and in professional sports to improve the performance of athletes.
Nowadays, training with the use of Electrical Muscle Stimulation is a very popular and proven method, which is gaining more and more popularity all over the world.
Because a twenty-minute workout means 51,000 pieces in every muscle group are contracting, including the deep stabilizer muscles!
It's about the same as a normal gym workout but...equal to 200 times more!
Because the only way to get results is if your muscles are regularly exposed to the training.
If there is not too much of a rest period between two workouts, you will slowly see the first results.
Από τη μία είναι σημαντικό να ανακουφίζετε τους μύες σας από την άλλη είναι εξίσου σημαντικό να μην τους χαλαρώνετε εντελώς.
If you have set a goal, you can incorporate a workout every 4 days into your life to lay the foundation for an active lifestyle and of course set some good nutritional rules!
Its important to train every week.
It is very important according to EMS safety protocols that the first 8 training sessions have a frequency of 1 time per week to enable the neuromuscular system to adapt to this new stimulus.
In the case of sunburn, electromyostimulation training experts discourage exercisers, probably because of the risk of inflammation and the increased sensation of pain.
In a place with sunburn there should be no electrostimulation.
If you only have slight redness, you don't need to train right away.
For example, if you have redness on the arms only, EMS TRAINING is easily possible because there are no electrodes on this area.
However, if you have a severe sunburn, be careful.
Because EMS TRAINING is intense, high-intensity physical exercise, trainees should always be in good condition for training.
So ask your personal trainer, they know you and can best judge if training is possible with the severity of your sunburn.
It is possible to train with EMS in rheumatism, but there are a few things to remember:
Since rheumatism is an inflammatory disease that involves limitations in the immune system, it is important that the intensity is adjusted to the patient's immune status and sensitivity to pain.
Exercise should be done on a regular basis as it can improve condition and overall health.
According to recent studies, EMS training in patients has resulted in significant increases in maximal oxygen uptake, increased muscle strength, decreased pain, and improved mental health without affecting the joints at all.
15. Can I do electromyostimulation training after pregnancy?
If you want to start training again after giving birth, you should consider and discuss beforehand with your doctor.
Please ask tour doctor about what is allowed and what is not.
Regarding training with electromyostimulation, after pregnancy there are fewer restrictions than with conventional training, especially with strength training, since it doesn't includes classical weights, which are an additional burden on the skeletal system.
EMS training is therefore very suitable for getting back into shape after pregnancy, as it stimulates the pelvic floor muscles, leg muscles and glutes.
16. I have multiple sclerosis, can I train with the electromyostimulation method?
Unfortunately, the current state of knowledge regarding training in EMS is still very poor.
Therefore, according to the current state of research, no general recommendation can be given, since the disease is different for each sufferer and treatment is based on the patient's current condition.
A person with multiple sclerosis should therefore consult their doctor in advance, before even trying this particular workout!
So far, electrotherapies have only been tested topically on patients with multiple sclerosis, which produced very good results in incontinence. and partly in spasticity.
17. Is it possible to train with electromyostimulation during the days of my period?
For many women this scenario is unimaginable because they experience it with cramps, headache and lower back pain.
This period should not be a reason to miss training.
Sports and therefore training with EMS during the period does not present any problem from a purely physical point of view.
Instead, exercise can even relieve pain and lead to greater balance and better mood.
18. I have silicone implants, can I train with the electromyostimulation method?
Breast augmentation is the most popular and common plastic surgery in women.
Breast implants are usually used for cosmetic reasons.
But after the operation, soon comes the question, from when can he participate in sports activities again?
Is EMS training with implants easy or forbidden?
Talk to your doctor before you start EMT training after breast augmentation surgery.
In general, there is no reason not to perform EMS training in those with implants.
19. How do I choose the most suitable electromyostimulation studio for me, since there are so many options?
Ems Studios, especially in the last year, are opening rapidly one after the other in Nicosia and in general throughout Cyprus.
To be able to do your research you must know the conditions and characteristics that an EMS TRAINING STUDIO space must have.
Thus, your stay in its premises will be comfortable and safe for your health!
20. How can I choose a safe electromyostimulation studio, so that I don't feel that my health is at risk?
The first specialized EMS studio in Nicosia was opened in March 2015 by EMS FITNESS STUDIO.
Today in Nicosia there are 14 EMS studios of different ownership and in the whole of Cyprus there are about 30 such small spaces that provide training services with electromyostimulation.
The advertisements of electromyostimulation machine dealers and companies, about low investment cost, easy profit, quick payback, attract more and more entrepreneurs to do business in this space.
However, things are not that simple, since a space, in order to be safe for practitioners, according to the current legislation, must have specific conditions from an architectural point of view, accompanied by the necessary legal documents from the state.
The choice you make should therefore be guided by whether the legal provisions are in place to ensure your health and safety.
21. How can I know if an electromyostimulation studio is legal and safe for my health?
